Our solutions are in nature

Let’s grow more trees, preserve our forests and clean the Oceans by reducing the use of plastic. Let’s deep dive and do fundamental research into the hidden world of plants and animal life. Let’s go organic, reduce the use of fertilizers and improve the soil health by practising sustainable practices of agriculture. It’s a time not to do less harm but do more good. It’s never too late to mend!

Our Solutions Are In Nature – International Biodiversity Day

The other important consideration while choosing species for plantation is diversity – of plant species, as well as, plant forms. The more the diversity of plant species, the more will be the overall diversity supported by the greenery, making it resilient to natural or artificial disturbances. Similarly, the more the diversity of plant forms, the more layered will be the greenery, helping it absorb more sunlight, heat and rainwater, making it productive and robust.

So, please do plant whenever and wherever you can. And please do choose as many types and forms of natives as possible – large trees, small trees, shrubs, climbers, creepers, herbs… Happy Biodiversity Day!

Biodiversity and Humans

On this International Biodiversity Day, let’s take a pledge that we will contribute to nature’s process by not polluting the environment.

Supporting nature is supporting the increase in human life expectancy, let’s do our part.

Mind Assets: Empowering people with disabilities

Maitri Shah, Founder Mind Assets,  a startup incubated at Riidl, is making an impact in the lives of many.  Through her tech startup, Maitri, an alumnus of K J Somaiya College of Engineering provides online skill training and remote/in-office job opportunities to people with disabilities so that physical infrastructure is not a barrier to have a career.

We volunteer!

On International Volunteers Day, we spoke to some students of Somaiya Vidyavihar who volunteer their time and talent to play a constructive role in their communities. We share their inspiring stories.

Protect Birds: Be the solution to plastic pollution

Our fast-paced lifestyle and endless production of greenhouse gases are having non -reversible impact to the planet Earth. We need to rethink as to how do we live and coexist with the birds especially the migratory ones. We need to preserve a healthy planet for ourselves as well as migratory birds.
